Hello!
Welcome to the new blog. In the coming weeks, I’ll be porting over old posts. This process will likely be painstaking, but will allow me to also review some of my work and likely make some cuts and edits. In the meantime, all the old posts will stay up at the blogspot link.
What do you mean by “old posts?”
Since August of 2018, I have written a blog post every day without fail for over 1000 days. I used to publish these blog posts publicly; I have since moved them to a private blog, but I have kept up some pieces of writing I stand by and occasionally posted new ones. This site contains an archive of those posts, along with blog posts I write on other platforms, such as for MIT Admissions.
The RSS feed for this site is here. An archive organized by month can be found here.

the last twenty days
burning out before the semester even starts
One year ago, before sophomore year started, and before I became a blogger, I was REX chair for Next House. This was a stressful time—along with a co-chair and a few other committee members, I had to design and run the first and only virtual REX at Next House, not to mention the UROP I was working on at the same time, or the summer camp I was running.

or, my only piece of advice for incoming first-years
The fall semester has just started, and the 2025s have poured onto campus, eager to experience MIT and everything it has to offer. Many of them are still bubbling with questions about their dorms, all the buildings on campus, and the classes which they will take in the coming four years. Many of them are also filled to the brim with anxieties about fitting in, about studying for classes, and about joining clubs.

how can i keep from singing?
a midpoint check-in
For the past two weeks, I’ve been spending my evenings singing in a choir. The Boston Conservatory is running a program for high-school students interested in pursuing singing in the future, and the choir director, who also happens to be MIT’s choir director, invites Concert Choir members in the area to fill in for vocal parts that are underrepresented. Tenors are always in short supply, so I sign up.

up, down, and out
some moments from the last month
In the past month, there have been moments when hope and joy have surprised me; where, despite the odds, my heart is full to bursting, bringing a certain buoyancy into my steps which match my momentary lightness of soul. These feelings usually sneak up on me—I never know when exactly to expect them, but when they do occur, they do feel motivated. Of course I’m over the moon right now, this good thing just happened.

how do you measure, measure a year?
I’m turning nineteen today, without much fanfare; after all, nineteen is not a particularly interesting age, and the past year itself has also been a little barren, devoid of many of the experiences that a year might usually have. There’s still something about the turn of the year and the impending end of the semester, though, that demands one gently reflect on the past year, and look forwards to what’s coming next.
